‘These £39 straighteners gave me sleek hair in just five minutes’

A decent pair of hair straighteners can easily cost shoppers more than £250 – look at the prices of top-tier models from ghd and Dyson. So when a genuinely impressive tool drops to under £40, it’s worth making a fuss about.

The Faszin Hair Straightener is currently discounted to £39.99 from £149.99 at Amazon, saving shoppers £90. Having tested the tool myself, I can confirm that this deal is an absolute bargain.

Now, I’ve been a devoted fan of my GHD Chronos straighteners for some time. They consistently deliver salon-sleek results, and I’ve always considered them worth the hefty £289 price tag. So, I was genuinely intrigued to see how the noticeably more affordable Faszin’s would compare.

Quite well, as it turns out. These straighteners transformed my hair from unruly and fluffy to sleek and polished in under five minutes, reports the Mirror.

As someone with naturally wavy, fine-to-medium hair, I was seriously impressed by how quickly and efficiently I could style my entire head with minimal effort and no aching arms.

The extra-wide 42mm plates are a game-changer, allowing me to glide through larger sections of hair in a single pass. Plus, they heat up fast, reaching 180°C in 20 seconds.

There are 11 temperature settings in total (ranging from 130°C to 230°C), allowing me to tailor the heat to my styling needs easily. The LCD display, which counts down to the selected heat level, is another thoughtful feature that makes the process feel effortless.

This is one area where they differ from the Chronos, which heats up to an optimal 185°C and doesn’t offer adjustable settings. While this temperature still works wonders for my hair, it’s certainly a bonus to have the flexibility to go higher or lower depending on what I’m doing.

Another hair tool that lets you adjust the temperature is Cloud Nine’s The Touch Iron (£189), which has two heat settings: 165°C to 195°C. Alternatively, Remington’s Shine Therapy Hair Straightener (£30.99, reduced from £79) features a digital temperature display with nine settings ranging from 150°C to 230°C.

In terms of user-friendliness, the Faszin straighteners are lightweight and feature a 360 ° swivel cord, so I didn’t have to grapple with annoying wire tangles while styling. I also appreciated the styling clips included in the box; they helped me section off hair neatly, enabling me to straighten each layer without constantly flicking strands out of the way.

Once I finished, I used the lock feature to clamp the plates shut. This not only makes storage easier, but it also minimises the risk of burns after use.

Honestly, I don’t have any complaints about these straighteners. That said, a couple of Amazon reviewers noted they didn’t last more than six months, and I’ve only had mine for a couple of months, so only time will tell how true that is.

That said, for £39.99, they’re an absolute bargain and have firmly earned a place in my beauty routine. They’re available to shop via Amazon, but the offer won’t last forever.
