Spotify statement as thousands report ‘music has stopped’ as app down | Music | Entertainment

Spotify is down for thousands of users – meaning people are unable to listen to their favourite tunes. Down detector reported that there have been more than 50,000 requests from people in the UK querying if it’s working.

Many took to social media to ask what’s going on. Cancelcloud asked on X: “Who’s come on to twitter to see if spotify is down?” Gracie said: “Spotify is down and the thoughts are getting in.”

wukko said: “spotify just went down how am i supposed to work.” Lou added: “why is spotify not working AGAIN.” App Venturist said: “I thought I could hate on Spotify engineering because their product choices have been questionable but… My Spotify buffered for the first time today and I restarted my entire internet setup – it never dawned that it could be down. I’ve never seen it down. I think it is…”

Diorgvbi added:” the fact my music just stopped because spotify is down.. i didn’t realise this was possible..” Martin pointed out: “Do something, the silence is deafening.”

Spotify has confirmed that it is experiencing problems. On X Spotify Status said: “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!” It later added: “We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false.”
