Remove weeds from paving slabs thanks to gardening guru’s ‘life-saving’ method

A gardening guru has been praised for sharing her go-to hack for removing weeds from in-between her paving slabs.

She says it saves her hours and leaves her patio looking neat and orderly for visitors.

On TikTok, the woman, who is known as @lovelello online, is seen scrubbing the stubborn weeds away with a viral tool, which she claims is worth every penny.

She said: “I hate pulling weeds out with my hands. I will not do that no matter how much you want to pay me. This area usually gets overlooked so I said enough is enough, and I got this lovely wire brush.

“Look at this. This is life changing. The lovely metal hook that you can see there and that actually gets the roots out. So after you’re done scrubbing and everything, you do go around to make sure all the roots are out so this is so brilliant.

“Can you believe this is the same area I showed you at the beginning. This is life-saving and you don’t have to bend down because it’s got a long handle as well. I didn’t know it was going to be this easy.”

In her caption, she shared how she poured boiling water over the area once she was finish to ensure the weeds do not come back again.

The wire brushes are available from a number of retailers including B&M, Home Bargains, local gardening centres as well as online on Amazon.

Commenting on her clip, one user said: “Omg I need this. I hate yes hate gardening especially weeding.”

Another user added : “Bought mine at B&M good product, brush does wear down quickly, couldn’t find replacement brushes.”

A third user said: “Looks really good for a temp solution but doesn’t get the roots so they’ll just keep coming back. Still may get one though.”

Other ways to remove weeds from your garden:

According to RHS, the best method to remove weeds for good is to hoe off seedlings, pull or form them out of the ground, use weeding tools and to dig out large established weeds.

A statement reads: “Annual weeds are generally shallow-rooted and easy to remove by hand. However, they often produce large quantities of seed, and therefore lots of seedlings, that require further control.

“The good news is that annual weed seedlings are easily smothered by mulch or temporary weed fabrics.

“Perennial weeds regrow each year and often have deeper, more extensive root systems. Removing the roots gives good control but isn’t always possible.

“Where it isn’t, regularly cutting back or smothering top growth weakens a plant and can eventually kill it. Weed barriers are useful for containing the spread of more pernicious perennial weeds.”
