A war movie with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score has been hailed as one of the best of its genre – and you can watch it on Netflix.
Number 24 follows the story of a young Norwegian man called Gunnar Sonsteby as he takes part in sabotage missions and assassination attempts during the fight against the Nazis amid the horrors of World War 2.
The narrative unfolds via a lecture to school students, given by Sonsteby as an elderly man long after the events of the story.
He recounts the events he participated in during the war.
It’s safe to say the film was a hit with fans. One Rotten Tomatoes review reads: “Best film, let alone film I’ve seen for a while. Powerful.”
Another says: “A really well-crafted film that throws your feelings in the mix with the cruel reality. A look at how some of the people had to suffer to get to the point where we are today. Overall, one of the best movies I have ever seen.”
Meanwhile, an IMDb review said: “The suspense was heart pounding as the Nazis try to close down the resistance cell of Norwegian patriots. Action scenes outstanding. Cinematography outstanding.
“All actors outstanding. And the best part. A true story. From beginning to end. Watch this movie. You won’t be disappointed.”
Sjur Vatne Brean stars as Gunnar in the movie, while the film was directed by John Andreas Andersen.
Mr Andersen said of the film: “We look closely at the extreme life that young Gunnar lived during the war, and the journey from auditor’s assistant to Norway’s most wanted man.
“He had a long list of aliases and slept in different apartments every night, with the hand grenade under his pillow.
“It is this young Gunnar, who is played by Sjur, who gives a role performance that has given us goosebumps during the shooting.”
