M&S shoppers say ‘summer is coming’ with ‘versatile dress’

Marks and Spencer have welcomed a number of stylish spring and summer dresses ahead of the new season onto their website and there is one in particular that is ‘in demand’. Available in black or lilac, the Printed Tie Front Midaxi Shirred Dress is proving so popular that it is already selling out of sizes – typically stocked in UK six to 24, the size 24 is currently sold out. Those who have been able to get their hands on it are saying: “Lovely material, hangs nice, comfortable to wear. Reasonable price.”

The versatile style is designed in a regular fit with elegant tie detailing and flattering shirring on the bodice. Short puff sleeves add a touch of volume and give it a contemporary feel without veering too far from a classic silhouette. It comes in just a regular length, with no option for petite or tall which is something to consider depending on height and how the dress falls. Elsewhere, Roman’s Black Petite Polka Dot Stretch Midi Dress has a similar look retailing for £38, but comes in petite.

The Marks and Spencer £55 Printed Tie Front Midaxi Shirred Dress has excited shoppers that say ‘summer is coming’. After spotting it in person, one shopper got it on the website, leaving a review that says: “I tried the dress on instore and ordered my size online. Great soft feel and great look I am knitting a tank top to go with it.”

A second person wrote: “This dress can be dressed up or down, depending on what accessories you put with it. It is a relaxed fit, and I was able to go down a size. Lovely fabric, which will nice and cool in summer, but could be worn with a top or camisole under it on cooler days. I can see myself getting lots of wear out of it.”

While the M&S dress is made from polyester, cotton is another great choice to wear when the weather warms up as it is breathable. Made from 96% cotton, Seasalt Cornwall’s Fettling Jersey Tie Detail Midi Dress retails for £69.95 has a pretty polka dot print and flattering tie waist detail.

The Marks and Spencer dress also received some negative feedback, with not all customers giving five-star ratings. Calling out size issues, one person said: “Quite big would suggest size down. Wanted to like it but didn’t, unfortunately.”

And another shared: “So wanted to like this as last year’s version was superb. Sleeves, fabric, ruching and bow feature all gorgeous, but the fit between bust and waist was weird. I’m 1.64m and tried 2 sizes, so hopefully it’s just me.”

Shoppers still keen to try the M&S Printed Tie Front Midaxi Shirred Dress can find it for £55 here.
