MY TV LIFE: JOSH JONES. Manchester-born stand-up comedian Josh, 32, is best known for his appearances on 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Dancing On Ice. He is currently touring the UK until December and hosting the BBC New Comedy Award on BBC3.
What was your first TV memory? I remember loving Bad Girls on ITV when I was about 8. All that drama in a women’s prison. It was how I found how about a lesbian was.
What was your first TV appearance? My first proper telly was 8 Out Of 10 Cats on Channel 4. I can’t really remember anything about it, I was so nervous. It was a total blur. But apparently it went well.
Who was your first TV crush? I used to like Jeff Hardy, a WWF wrestler. He would do the flips which was cool and sexy. He went on to be a WWE champion.
What is your favourite current show? I’m loving Wednesday on Netflix. Jenna Ortega who plays her is really good. I wish I could be that cool and mysterious but I speak too much.
Which TV show would you take to a desert island? I’m rewatching Vikings at the moment, but I think Scott & Bailey, the ITV cop show with two female detectives. I love it. And Suranne Jones is brilliant. I won’t say too much, she’ll think I’m a stalker.
What TV show would you like to put out of its misery? This Morning and Loose Women, stuff like that. They’ve been on since I was a kid. Daytime telly feels really boring. It needs a shake-up.
Guiltiest TV pleasure? I love period dramas and history documentaries. And WWE wrestling. Do you remember William Regal who they built up as British royalty and then punctured the illusion by adding “from Blackpool, England”?
What are you up to at the moment? I’m on tour until December 5th. It’s called the ‘I haven’t won the lottery so here’s another tour show’. Come and see it, it’s a good night out.
