Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence recently sat down for an episode of BAFTA Playback, where she made a huge statement.
During the conversation, the 35-year-old Hunger Games star revealed her favourite film of all time happens to be one that only came out a couple of months ago and is tipped for major Oscar wins in the new year.
The movie in question is Paul Thomas Anderson’s new action thriller One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
She declared: “This is the best movie I’ve ever seen. I can’t remember a time where I ever had an experience like that in the cinema, and it was shared.”
Lawrence enthused: “When it was over, everyone applauded. I just kept thanking my husband over and over and over again because he had booked the tickets, like two weeks in advance, and I just couldn’t say anything else other than just like, thank you for that experience. “You have to see it in theaters. I think it’s an impossible pace to uphold. There’s not an extra minute in it, at no point does it drag.”
On Anderson’s writing and direction Lawrence said: “[He] has so many characters inside of him, and they’re all so visceral, so real that you’re, it’s so alive and you’re in it. Every character, you are, you know them and you see them.”
Praising the film’s performances, she was stunned in particular by Sean Penn’s Colonel Steven J Lockjaw: “I mean, Leo, obviously, but I mean, my God.”
One Battle After Another is available to rent or buy on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
