Former James Bond speaks out on 007 comeback with new director Denis Villeneuve | Films | Entertainment

Amazon MGM Studios is gearing up for the next James Bond film with Dune’s Denis Villeneuve in the director’s chair and a script penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

As fans eagerly await the announcement of the new 007, is there any chance they could go back and cast a former Bond star?

After all, Sean Connery returned to the role twice in 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever and 1983’s unofficial Never Say Never Again.

And both of these occasions were after George Lazenby and Roger Moore had played 007.

Now Pierce Brosnan has thrown his hat in the ring for a Bond return over 23 years after he hung up his tuxedo in Die Another Day.

Speaking with Radio Times while promoting his new film The Thursday Murder Club, Brosnan said: “I don’t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I would look at it in a heartbeat. Why not? It’s great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics… who knows?”
