If there’s one thing we Brits know all too well, it’s unpredictable weather. One minute you’re stepping out into crisp, chilly air and the next you’re battling sideways rain or ankle-deep puddles. And with Storm Bram set to roll in this week in parts of the UK, the Mucker neoprene long boots from Mountain Warehouse could come in useful.
We’d say they are ideal for anyone who spends early mornings in the park, weekends in the garden, or winter afternoons chasing a dog that refuses to come back when called, and they should stand you in good stead for winter walks.
They’re available for men and women and both are down from £79.99 to £49.99. Made from a combination of rubber and neoprene, they should keep feet dry in the wettest weather. The brand says they have grippy soles, which will help on muddy trails, slippery grass and wet pavements. You can easily hose them down when you get home, too. At the time of writing, the women’s boots are available in sizes 4 to 8 in both colours, and then men’s in sizes 6 to 13.
Mountain Warehouse shoppers have left mainly positive reviews for the women’s boots. One person wrote: “Excellent for walking the dogs in the mud. Really warm too!” Another person added: “Excellent value for money, I wear these daily for work and they are more flexible than traditional wellies.”
One wearer who had bought these on repeat had a caveat: “My third pair of these, very warm and comfy, but last less than a year, but I do wear them a lot.”
Reviews for the men’s boots are equally positive. One user penned: “Very comfortable and easy to get on and off. They look good quality.” Another person wrote: “Sizing very good, nice and warm with the thermal lining.” A third, who said they bought these for dog-walking, said: “My daily walk is a mix of paved surface, very muddy fields and the beach. These boots keep my feet dry and warm throughout all these conditions…I find the tab on the outside of the heel really useful when taking them off, no need to get your hands dirty!”
While the majority of users report that these are waterproof, not all agree, with one reviewer saying: “They’re comfortable but have failed at the one thing they are supposed to do, keeping my feet dry.”
