Clinique reduces £100 gift set to £50 in Black Friday sale

Black Friday may not be until November 28, but many big brands, including Clinique, have launched their sales ahead of time, giving shoppers the opportunity to score some great deals on their favourite skincare and makeup. Whether you’re stocking up on your go-to products or shopping for a skincare lover in your life, the brand is offering up to 30% off sitewide. However, the best offer we’ve spotted is a limited-edition gift box that’s currently 50% off.

The Fan Favourites Skincare and Makeup Set has been slashed from £100 to £50, and includes three full-sized products and a mini cleanser. The gift box lives up to its name, as it includes some of the brand’s most popular products. Inside, you can find a Moisture Surge moisturiser, an eye cream, and the popular Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm alongside a tube of High Impact Mascara.

The brand claims the overall value of the gift set is £110, and the discounted price of £50 works out to around £12.50 for each item – a significantly better deal than buying them individually, even though they are all currently on sale. For context, after individual discounts, the cheapest item would be the mascara at £19.50.

This is a great gift set for Clinique faithfuls wanting to stock up, but it’s also a great way for people who have always been curious about the brand to try some bestsellers for half the price. If you’re only after specific products, it could also be split up into smaller stocking fillers.

To start you off with a clean slate, there’s a travel-sized jar of the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, which is super handy with the festive season approaching. It’s designed to remove makeup and cleanse skin without stripping it, and a little goes a long way. It comes as a balm that emulsifies when wet and can then be wiped off. I use this cleanser myself, and if, like me, you’re fond of a bit of glitter eyeshadow at Christmas but can never get it off afterwards, I’ve found it really effective — it works on waterproof makeup, too.

However, the cleanser’s thick texture might not be for everyone, as one shopper online pointed out: “As much as it’s effective at makeup removal, I personally won’t be using this product for eye makeup removal in future, as it clouds your eyes.”

The set also includes a full-sized 50ml Moisture Surge moisturiser, which normally retails for £42 (currently on sale for £31.50). It’s a lightweight gel-cream that blends hydrating aloe and hyaluronic acid with antioxidant vitamins C and E. It’s designed to deliver long-lasting hydration and can be used day or night. The moisturiser is recommended for skin on the drier side, and while there are no age-specific claims, reviews say it works equally well on both younger and more mature skin.

“This has become my go-to moisturiser, has given my skin a much-needed glow in the winter months and works so well under my foundation!” wrote a shopper in her 20s. Meanwhile, another person added: “I am 55 and just discovered this beauty last year. Going through menopause, my skin was awful, but not anymore; my skin feels like it did when I was in my 20s. I buy this in bulk so I never run out.”

The set also includes a full-size 15ml jar of the All About Eyes Eye Cream, which normally costs £35 and has been individually discounted to £26.25. The cream can be used day and night, and can even help prime the undereye area to help makeup go on more smoothly. It’s formulated with vitamin C and caffeine, which Clinique claims can help depuff eyes and target dark circles, along with added whey protein intended to soothe and hydrate the skin.

A fan of the eye cream said: “It nourishes my eyelids especially and all around the bottom of my eyes, no crows’ feet at all, and I’m almost 59.” A second loyal customer said that “eye makeup just glides on” after using the cream. But one shopper found the cream didn’t live up to all its claims, saying: “This is a nice under-eye moisturiser. It hydrates, and that’s pretty much it. It doesn’t make any difference to dark circles or shadows or puffiness at all.”

The last treat in the set is a tube of High Impact Mascara in black. It’s designed to lengthen lashes and add volume, and according to the brand, it can be built up without clumping. The mascara got many positive reviews, with one fan saying they “can see a difference even without using a lash curler” and confirming there are “no clumps or spider-y lashes”.

But several shoppers found the formula was easy to smudge, with one saying: “So disappointed, this mascara went on beautifully and my lashes looked really good, but two hours later I noticed I had panda eyes.” Shoppers should keep in mind that this mascara is not waterproof, so its formula might be more prone to smudging.

If you are a Clinique fan but have different favourites, you can still make big savings, as the brand’s Black Friday promotion includes more gift sets and offers on individual products.

Shoppers who spend £55 or more on the brand’s bestsellers, found here, can choose a free full-size product at checkout. Those who spend £70 or more get a mini duo, including a cleanser and anti-ageing moisturiser, which will be automatically applied at checkout.
