ABBA and KISS have led the way in designing virtual motion-capture concert shows to leave as a legacy to the world.
And now Queen are taking an interest with their eyes on The Sphere Las Vegas.
The recording-breaking new venue boasts a 16K resolution wraparound interior LED screen that totally immerses the 20,000-capacity arena.
Alongside the AI-enhanced version of The Wizard of Oz currently playing at the attraction, rock legends like the Eagles and U2 have performed special shows inside.
Back in September, Sir Brian May admitted he’s been in talks and has now given an update on what he’s calling “an immortal Queen show”.
Speaking exclusively with Daily Express, Sir Brian May said: “I’m very keen. It takes a while, because there’s lots of dots to dot and Is to do whatever with and again, we will be working very closely with Sony, because they are the people who will come up with the money, and they are the people who make money from it now that they own the Queen catalogue. We do it for the love now, and I think we always did. What’s more apparent now is that you do it because you love it. So yes, I’m very keen on the idea.” And by the sounds of it, this won’t be the only virtual Queen show.
Sir Brian added: “And I think there will be other Spheres, and there are other people trying to do similar things. But at the moment, the Sphere is the only immersive experience of that kind in the world. So I’m anxious to develop some ideas which I have in my head to make an immortal Queen show. I think it’s nothing less than that. I think that’s what we need to leave the world with. It will be epic.”
