Boden polka dot dress that ‘hugs body without clinging’ is on sale

If you have not noticed already, mid-season sales have arrived and fashionistas can shop past-season pieces for a fraction of their original price. Many shoppers have their eyes on the Boden Pip Zip-Up Ponte Midi Dress, which is now reduced from £130 to £91. The distinctive polka dot print in navy blue fabric is similar to designs worn by the royals. 

We have seen Princess Kate and Sarah Ferguson donning polka dot dresses from Rixo and LK Bennett but instead of costing hundreds of pounds, Boden offers a more affordable option with this Pip Zip-Up Ponte Dress that comes in petite, regular and long in lengths, and it’s currently on sale. 

With delicate piping trims on the shirt bodice to give the silhouette more defined shaped, the shirt cuffs are adorned with scallop lace trims for a feminine touch. The fit and flare shape keeps the dress modest so shoppers can wear it for work and formal occasions. 

One feature that is worth noting is the seamless yet functional pockets at the side below the waist. For those who don’t love the polka dot print, Boden has a lotus stamp-print version in bright pink that is reduced to £52.The dress has attracted 35 near-perfect reviews online with one customer saying she would buy it again, detailing: “I absolutely love this dress It hugs the body without clinging. It can go from work to dinner out. Most of all, lovely print that reminds me of Boden of old.”  

A five-star reviewer shared: “This is a fabulous dress so flattering in all the right places. Immediately I tried it on I knew the style and the design were for me. It’s rather a strange turnaround as I had almost given up with Boden as nothing seemed to suit – just thought I would give it one more go and it’s worked.”

A second shopper praised the “beautiful weight and drape”, sharing: “Dress fits so well, enhances where I’d like it to and skims flatteringly over other areas. Pretty touches such as piping sets it above the ordinary.”

However, a few customers noted the same issue of the Boden dress, saying it sits “way too long” and past the supposed low-calf length they claimed on the website. “Beautiful dress and lovely material but the length was ridiculous. I have midi and usually it’s fine but this was one of those occasions it wasn’t unfortunately. The dress came to my ankle so sadly I had to return it,” one penned.

Another buyer also had to return her dress and she described it “more like a maxi dress”, making it “look frumpy” due to the length. Others made an exchange to get the dress in petite length instead. On the other hand, River Island’s Black Long Sleeve Shirred Spot Midi Dress has been selling fast online, the £46 piece features a shirred bodice on a smock silhouette.
