New Look jacket that ‘looks expensive’ is now half price

New Look has kicked off its Boxing Day sale with up to 70% off fashion site-wide, but one discount that really caught my eye is on a trendy boxy-cut leather jacket that shoppers say looks a lot like far more expensive options. Layering season is far from over, with plenty of chilly days still ahead, and a leather jacket is one of my wardrobe must-haves that can carry you right through to spring.

While there are plenty of leather jacket styles to choose from, the boxy cut has a classic, vintage edge that feels a little dressier. It’s easy to style up or down too: throw it on with jeans and pumps for daytime, or layer it over your little black dress for a polished evening look.

Shoppers in particular are loving New Look’s faux leather jacket with patch pockets. In one review, a shopper said: “Looks so similar to much more expensive alternatives.”

Now that it’s on sale, the price is even more appealing. Originally retailing at £45.99, the jacket is currently reduced to just £22.99 — a 50% discount. It comes in black as well as olive green, which is discounted by 33% to £31. However, the black jacket has a wider size range still available, while the olive green has already sold out in more sizes.

The jacket is very similar in style to a £69.90 faux leather jacket from Uniqlo released earlier this year, which has since sold out. The design also bears a striking resemblance to Massimo Dutti’s Nappa leather jacket, though that version retails for £399 — making the New Look jacket more than £370 cheaper at its current discounted price.

As the price reflects, the New Look jacket is made from faux leather crafted from polyester. I generally prefer faux leather from an ethical standpoint, but if you love a real leather jacket, you may notice a difference in feel. That said, New Look customers say the faux material hasn’t compromised on quality. One shopper commented: “Gorgeous jacket, looks fabulous with jeans, soft material felt great on.”

According to shoppers, the boxy fit also makes it a great layering piece. One reviewer said: “Great fit, perfect for over a jumper, plenty of room in the sleeves.”

The jacket features a classic collar, two front flap pockets, and front button fastening with plain black buttons, keeping the overall look clean and timeless.

It’s also proving popular across generations, with one shopper saying she bought one for herself and one for her daughter. She shared: “I have to say I have so many people comment on it. I’ve even bought my daughter one for Christmas. I showed it to her, and she said it’s really cute and she really likes it. Can’t get better reviews from people you randomly see!”

That said, the cut won’t be for everyone — especially if you prefer a longer length or a biker-style silhouette. One customer noted: “Looked nice in pic but not on me, was not soft and bit boxy.”
