Martin Lewis issues ‘difficult’ message before ‘frustrating’ end of ITV series | Personal Finance | Finance

Money expert Martin Lewis has issued a ‘difficult’ message to his ITV viewers ahead of Christmas as he announced the end of the series. The Money Saving Expert founder wrapped up the latest series of his hit ITV1 financial advice programme on Tuesday night with the new start times for his upcoming 2026 series, along with a goodbye message and a gentle arm on the shoulder for those who may find this time of year more difficult than others.

At the end of his investing special on Tuesday, December 9, Martin told his viewers: “We’re back in January with a one-off show at 9’o’clock on January 6 and then we’re moving to 7.15pm on Tuesdays after that. But for now, I’d like to wish all who celebrate a joyous, peaceful and warm hearted Christmas and a happy New Year.

“And for those who find this time of year difficult, or grief-filled or lonely, may your passage through it be easy, with more smiles than you would expect.

“Thank you so much, merry Christmas, bye bye.”

The episode also marked the first time that Martin had covered the world of investing on his ITV show.

He explained how the format, which has been expanded into an hour-long show in recent years, now allows him to cover investing where he couldn’t before.

But following the episode going out, Martin then hit out at ‘keyboard warriors’ on social media who had tried to attack him for covering the subject for the first time.

Taking to X after the episode, he posted a reaction to an odd tweet, where he said: “Ps this is the problem doing a show on investing.

“Attacked by some for being too cautious, others for encouraging “gambling”. Many by keyboard warriors who don’t even bother to watch the show, they just do their comments. Very frustrating.”

He then added: “Anyway it’s bedtime. Proud we’ve done what we guess may have been (cant 100% confirm, anyone remember another? ) the first prime time show on the two big channels on how consumers can invest. It’s always been fraught with regulatory (ofcom & fca) hurdles which is why most steer clear. I’ve done it on my podcast before but glad to have worked a way to do it on TV now too. Now off to sleep.”

Martin Lewis’s first investing special is still available in full via ITVX.
